Step #1—Create Your Own Website

The #1 step in becoming a prolific digital marketer is to create your own website. You might be wondering why … because you exist will be your playing ground where you will be an able to test what you learn and see the results first-hand. You need to go out there and create a wordpress blog if you are looking to blog or if you want to sell a product online you need to create a Shopify site. The best way to learn digital marketing is to start your own website. Your website should be about something you are really passionate about since you will be putting a lot of Tim e and efforts into promoting and growing your website.

Step #2—Find Out Who Your Competitors Are

The #2 is to find out who your competitors are…. So if you don’t know your competitors are just going to google and type keywords related to your industry or niche and record all the competitors that are showing up in the search results. Then go to a tool called Uber suggest and enter the URL, you have discovered when you did your research in Google. This will show you the traffic your competitors are getting per region, it will also show you the top pages your competition is getting the most traffic from. Also Uber Suggest will show you all the best keywords your competition is raking for, plowing you to create better content based on the same keywords you have discovered.

Step #3— The top pages report

Step #3 is to click on the top pages report seeing all the top pages that drive the most traffic to your competitor’s website. In the top-page report, you will be able to see how many visits each page generates for your competitors you will also see how many social shares they do have, how many backlinks do they have and then what you should do is analyze all the top pages that drive the most traffic to your competitor’s website. From there you have to figure out which keywords drive the most traffic, they have high volume, high cost per click and a low search difficulty cause these are the easiest ones to go after and to rank well for.   Go and look at those pages and write a better version of that page. Don’t just create a page that is similar but make it better, better images, better long-form text and better overall experience for the reader. Go above and beyond…

Step #4—Promote the Hell Out of Your Content

Step #4 is to promote the hell out of your content. So you want to see all the backlink pointing to your competitors best blog post (You saw that in Uber Suggest) and then what I want you to do is contact each of the backlinks creator with a personalized email basically telling them that you just posted a better blog post than the one they link to from your competitor. Then you should send this email to hundreds of people so they start linking to your content. That will boost your search traffic and this will produce referral traffic which is awesome. The more you promote your content the more traffic you will get and that will produce results.

Step #5—Build an Email List

Step #5 build an email list (as an online marketer there is nothing more valuable than your email list). You cannot succeed online without an email list.
